It has been so long since I have put anything up. It feels good to draw on the computer again after so long. This one came to me in a dream around three in the morning. It just snapped into my head and i had to draw it. I realized that among the diverse cast of characters in Strike Witches there weren't many (I think only 1) African American based Witches in the Series. I guess there is some reason for this but I thought I would make my own. This is the start of what I hope carries on to an entire fighter wing based on the Tuskegee airmen. They have some of the most inspirational stories you will ever hear and i highly suggest looking them up. Seeing as today marks the start of black history month it may be nice to learn about the brave men who fought for a country that gave them no rights. They paved the way for the desegregation of the American Military. The Tuskegee airmen are definitely worth the time if you want to learn more about pilots or history.
I think it was kind of strange for me to want to draw this so suddenly. I had not even thought about the Tuskegee airmen until this morning. She was very fun to draw.
Based on Julius Freeman of the Tuskegee Airmen she is the commanding officer of the 332nd Fighter wing known as the Red Tails. She is a stern but fair commander who leads her unit well in battle. On the ground she is a little more lenient with the rules and allows some rule breaking to slide. She is very close to her squad mates as they have been flying together for a long time. At this point in history she is 18 years old and the oldest member of her unit. she is normally seen wearing her leather jacket on flights opposed to the gear the other members of her squad wear. She carries an M1911 pistol into combat along with her Thompson M1928A1. Her familiar is a Red Lechwe. always on task and never afraid of a foe Julian Freeman is definitely someone you would want on your side of a fight.
who knows. maybe there will be a story or a comic to go with these characters.
